Many years ago, the amateur radio clubs in the Oklahoma City area started an event that is now known as the “All Ham Dinner.” This dinner allows about 70 hams to get together, eat dinner, and communicate with each other. This dinner happens on the third Thursday of January, May, and September at 6:30 pm.
The next All Ham Dinner will be held on October 14, 2021, at 6:30 pm. This dinner will be at the Hibachi Supreme Buffet at 1012 W I 240 Service Rd, Oklahoma City, OK (405) 632-5888. The Hibachi is on the south side of I-240, between Western and Pennsylvania. No RSVP is needed, show up, get your meal, and join the fun in their banquet rooms.
To spread the load, and fun, of hosting these dinners, the member clubs of CORA take turns organizing the event. Each club sponsors one about every two years. The hosting club selects the location and makes the arrangements with a restaurant to host the 70 or so people that show up. Also, the host club makes a presentation and then facilitates a round-robin discussion by all of the clubs. Each club presents its recent activities or asks for assistance at a future event.
This meeting is sponsored by the South Canadian Amateur Radio Society (SCARS). The sponsoring club sets up the logistics for the evening and emcees the event. Activities from each club in attendance are discussed to provide information exchange among groups.
